Curanderismo

Curanderismo derives from traditions of healing within Latin America and is centred around bringing balance and understanding to the interrelation of oneself to internal and external forces. A Curandero/a will work alongside a patient to identify the seeds of illness and disharmony and assist a patient forward into the renewal of their identity through a variety of practices.

Curanderismo uses healing methodolgies  that incorporate herbal medicine, ritual, body therapies and various spiritual practices. The use of ritual practices and their approaches act as major functions to the solidification of curing and equilibrium of self. Through embodiment and practice of sacred rituals, Curanderismo deepens a dialogue within oneself between purposeful action and meaningful intent.

Within the context of day to day function and routine, individuals can find it difficult to navigate a path into a wider introspection of self, place and meaning. Curanderismo’s methodology provides individuals a model to begin stepping outside of formulated structures and create a language of considered creation within oneself.

The practice in which Wenona has been studying comes from the tradition of Peruvian Vegetalistic knowledge, based in the Peruvian Amazon. Within this school of practice, the world of plants forms a basis for a sanative template to effect meaningful discovery and refection in one’s healing progression.

Wenona has travelled extensively including: The Peruvian Amazon, Sierra and Mountains, Bolivian Mountains and Altiplano, Brazilian Highlands.
